(Annelie's) leaving... on a jet plane...

So it's almost time to say goodbye... Taking my mom and Annelie to the airport in a while... quite sad! Last night's supper was great though, in the end we didn't go to the Greek restaurant, but Founder's Grill, as it seemed more warm and cosy. Had a steak (of course), and they even brought my mom a suprise birthday cake!!

Went to gym this morning, starting to do some upper-body stuff as well now. Had a horrible dream last night... dreamt that my Prograf fell on the ground, and that I didn't see it. I then only realised at 4pm that my Prograf was laying on the floor, and that I had missed a dose. I then frantically tried to phone my Dr, but he had disappeared off the face of the earth, and I didn't know what to do...

Anyway... going to see a movie tonight with a friend, so looking forward to that. And I have to get some blood taken tomorrow morning. Well, actually, about 10 tubes of blood, so I can't really say it's 'some' blood... it's loads of blood!!!

My mom's birthday so far...

GUESS WHO'S 50 TODAY???????

My mom's 50 today!!!!! And her biggest gift is probably that I'm still here to share the day with her!!! (I'm very modest of course) This morning we dressed up for tea in Melville, which was very nice. We also walked around in the shops a bit, and drove past Annelie's old house in Joburg. They moved to the UK in 2000.

Tonight we are having supper at a greek restaurant, which should be great. I just wish my sister was also here!!!!! Missing her a lot!!!! Haven't seen her for more than a month now, although it feels longer. At least she's coming up to visit for at least 2 weeks in 2 weeks' time. We're going to have SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!! And the parentals aren't going to be around, which is even better!!!

For some reason my pics don't want to upload now, but will try again later!!!

Pictures of our visit to Aunty Dine (correct spelling this time)...

Our visit was very nice... had lovely scones and date-bread with our tea! And met a second cousin I've never seen before, Jonathan, who is a year older than me.

Annelie's visit so far!

Because my sister has been complaining, it seems like I have to do another update. She is busy studying for her Management Accounting Exam that she is writing tomorrow. We are really missing her and wishing she was also here!!

Yesterday morning it was gym as per usual. I am also rowing at the gym now, and slowly have to start exercising my arm muscles again, in preperation for SQUASH!!!! After gym, Annelie and I went to do a bit of shopping, then we had yummy steak pie for lunch, and had coffee at my physician Paul's house in the afternoon. It was VERY nice.
Today we were a bit lazy and had a slow start, but then managed to drag ourselves out of the flat for some more shopping. Got great black suede boots!!!!!!! Nice and warm for this freezing weather!!!! Thanks Annelie...
This afternoon we're visiting my Aunty Deanie (think that's how you spell it, if it's not, I'll change it!!). That's also going to be very nice!!! And tomorrow's my mom's BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Can't wait!!!
P.S. When I opened the blog yesterday, I was visitor # 102 000. Cool.

Annelie's here!!!!

Today went by so quickely, I don't know what happened to the time! We went to fetch my mom and Annelie (mom's sister) at the airport, had tea and 'Hertzoggies', my favourite type of cookie that my grandmother had sent up especially for me!!! It is traditionally South African, and is basically a coconut-jam tartlett. VERY YUMMY... They were named after a former prime minister from the 1930's... useless info.

This afternoon we went to visit some friends of Annelie (she used to stay in Joburg), and my mom and I shopped a LITTLE bit. I also checked out some squash racquets... not long before I can play now!!!! Just chilling at home now, enjoying the fact that my mom is cooking for a change!!!!
The last pic is me looking domesticated in the kitchen. Note my laptop in the kitchen. It is also facing the TV... So I often spend my time cooking, while blogging/surfing/writing Instablog articles, while watching TV. Love multi-tasking... Also note that I'm getting fat, lol!!!

The lung function machine that did not want to break...

So it's only 97%... BUT my lung volume is up a tiny bit, and that affects the FEV1%... because FEV1% measures how much air you blow out in 1 second, compared to the volume of your lungs... or something like that... My volume is like almost 130% of predicted now or something ridiculous like that... Some of my blood levels are a bit funny though, so going back for bloods only next week.

My mom and aunt from the UK are landing tomorrow morning, so I'm VERY excited about that!!!! So will be taking some pics again this weekend!!!

TGIF!!!!!!!!!

It's Friday!!!! YAY!!! This has not been the best of weeks (although yesterday was great), so I'm just SOOOO glad it's Friday! Going to gym in a short while, and then off to break the lung function machine at Milpark. Hope they've got insurance...

After they've called the guys to come and fix it, I'm seeing Dr Paul, who might be a bit upset about the expensive machine breaking, but after he sees my FEV1%, he will, just as in the case of said machine, be blown away... so it's all good...

So why was yesterday good? Didn't really get an endorphin fix (will explain just now...), but went to play Tenpin Bowling, with Craig, a guy from church. Haven't played in ages, and even though I lost horribly (my excuse being that I was going easy on the sternum!), it was lots of fun!! They had this student special where you get a discounted rate AND a beer if you show your student card (which I don't have, since I'm not a student anymore), but sometimes looking young can be to your advantage!!!

So what's with the endorphin fix?? I SERIOUSLY think I'm addicted to it... I get unmanageable when I haven't been to gym for 2 days in a row... I don't think this is cellular memory, but rather a case of discovering all the nice things my body can do now, and the nice feeling I get afterwards... Even while typing this I'm getting jittery... So please excuse me while I GO GET READY FOR GYM!!!!!!!

P.S. Will give an update on the status of the lung function machine when I get back...

Wet Wednesday

Whoever commented on Monday's post saying winter in Joburg consists of "Clear blue skies,no rain or wind or thunder storms..." didn't know what they were talking about... The rain is pouring down, there was some serious thunder, and it's pretty dark. And it's JUNE, ie WINTER. So now I have to wait for the weather to clear before I can go to gym. And I really want to go because I haven't been since Saturday...

Feeling a bit less depressed about not finding a job, probably as a result of a bit more than 9 hours worth of sleep. And a year ago this time I would kill to be able to say 'having trouble finding a job' is my biggest problem...

I've also put 2 links up on the right side, where you can vote for my blog. It has been nominated for the Blogger's Choice Awards a while ago. Although I have NO chance of winning, being up against Tricia and Nate's blog :-) At least it LOOKS cool!!

I have also been made a 'star member' at Instablogs... whatever that means... I think it's because my article on Cellular memory got so many stars... well here are two more links to my two latest articles...

Tuesday

Mentally speaking today is not a good day for me. Got another rejection e-mail concerning a job I applied for. NOTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING OUT DAMMIT!!!!!! It feels like everyone underestimates me or something. And now I feel like crying.

So because I've got no news, I'll just post some pics that my dad took this weekend for work. (he's an architect). They're pics of Ndebele architecture..

3 pics from the weekend!

Finally managed to get the pics on!! They were taken on my phone, but the quality is suprisingly good!!! They are of us having cake and coffee at the best shopping place ever... WorldWear... they have lots of designer shops selling designer goods at CHEAP prices... will definitelly go there when I need new summer clothes or new gym stuff. Have got plenty of winter stuff!

Almost 100 000 visitors!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I've almost had 100 000 visitors since 7 Jan!!!!!!! That is A LOT.... seriously... The rest of the weekend was just as cool as the first part. Supper at Paul's (my physician) house was really great. We left there at 01:00 am! His little 4 year-old girl is SOOO CUTE!!! But she's a handfull... don't know how people my age manage being parents and having a full-time job etc... Kids are great, as long as you can hand them back to their parents!!

Yesterday morning Louz and I went to see a movie, What Happens in Vegas. Was really very funny!!! Afterwards we went to the Randburg Waterfront and had a late lunch/early supper with Suzanne and her husband Chris. Was nice, the place reminds me of the Boardwalk casino in PE.. only with some more dodgy-looking people here... had a very nice rib-burger and the most delicious dessert!!

Today I went to visit my medical aid, Compcare Wellness's headoffice in Sunninghill. I've been with them since forever, but they've never met me, so it was very nice meeting everyone!!! They even had scones and coffee for me!! Louz and I are having dinner at Craig's house (guy from church), so that should be very nice!

I can't get the pics to load up onto the blog!!!!! Don't know what the hell is wrong, but I'll try again tomorrow...
