Long Weekend Report Back

Long weekend was great! Although I could use another day! On Friday my mom and I went plant shopping for herbs! Bought Mint, 2 types of Basil, Coriander, Rosemary, and Spring Onion. Going to be so cool to use my oen herbs in salads and food!

On Sat was Chris and a friend of his' combined suprise b-day DAY. We organised paintball, go-carts, lunch @ SPUR, drinks @ KEG and a braai afterwards. The day was a success and the boys had fun! I posted some pics...

In 2 weeks time it's the tx games!!!! Training hard again this week (did last week too, but not over the weekend!) Hopefully work is also quiet and drama-free this week.

Long weekend ahead!

As you can see at the top of my blog I am now 2 years and 8 months post tx, YAY!!!!!!!!!! Today is the last working day for the week, as tomorrow is a public holiday, HERITAGE DAY. We could dress up to work in "traditional clothes", so I just wore some jewelery that I inherited from my gran!

It's also Chris's birthday this Sunday, so we've got a lot of cool stuff planned for Saturday with friends. It's a suprise, so Chris doesn't know what we'll be doing... but it's going to be fun!!!! Pics to follow... My mom is also in Joburg at the moment, so will be seeing her as well this weekend! and she can help me with some gardening!

Hope you have a great weekend too, wish every weekend was a 3-day one!!!!!!!!! Really need it!

I love SATURDAYS!!!!!

Especially after the week I've had! Work was so intense, worked late 2 days of the week, didn't gym as much as I was supposed to, had a performance review, and they came to fix our ceiling yesterday finally! The new carpet's colour was wong, but hopefully they'll fix that with the correct carpet today so we can move back into our room! It's been over 4 weeks now of sleeping in the spare bedroom or study. I was so tired last night that for the first time EVER I fell asleep in front of the TV at 8pm... Chris all romantically carried me upstrairs when I woke up... just for me to realise I'd have to go downstairs again to drink my meds... bummer. So at least I got in a good nights sleep last night!

On today's agenda is visiting my friend in hosp (the one I blogged abt last Sat), going to Transplant Group Network meeting... and then the part I'm most looking forward to: GARDENING! Now that it's spring everything is growing SO NICELY and we've adopted a little bird in our garden (we called him Boba), he's yellow with a black face (some a yellow breasted weaver I think?) He's built 2 nests in our tree but his wife/female bird/lover keeps on destroying them. So right now it doesnt seem like he's got a nest going, but he's still hanging around, so we'll have to wait and see! See the pics I've posted above!

Hope you have a great weekend, this coming week has another anniversary in store for me! 32 months!

Not too much to report on

Our weeks were so busy that Chris and I are just relaxing this weekend! Watching movies on TV, doing nothing, so far we just left the house to buy food for the week and I went to visit a girl waiting for transplant in hospital. Was pretty cross with myself though when I woke up at 6 this morning and couldnt go back to sleep!

Been thinking about my lungs a lot since yesterday (obviously because it's actually been a while since I visited someone pre-transplant @ hospital, and it brings back so much memories). How they feel like they're mine now, they breathe without me even thinking about it, unlike my own lungs used to be. How can someone else's lungs be more comfortable in my body than my own ever were??? Still so mind bogling. Yet at the same time my body can start attacking these beautiful lungs at any moment and they can start struggling worse than my old ones did. Oh well, let's hope that never happens.

The National Tx Games are in less than a month's time!!!!!!!!!! Creeped up on me so quickly with the wedding and everything that happened. Looking forward to it, but seriously trying to get fitter now (not that I'm extremely unfit, just need to practise the squash and walking). Last time @ nationals 2 years ago I hadn't even MET Chris! Met him like a week after. How things have changed!

Anyway, have a good weekend. Oh, and since it's 9/11 (why not 11/9, makes more sense???) and everyone's talking abt what they were doing then the twin towers got hit, here's my 2 cents: I was in grade 11, we were writing exams, Maths in my case, the next day. I came home from school and turned on the TV. Saw a plane flying into a builing and I thought "stupid action movie" and turned the TV right off. Started practising piano instead. Then my sister or someone came home and said we must watch TV!!!! So I clicked, oh, CNN is not doing a dumb movie review, it's actually LIVE! Anyway, felt very sorry for everyone who lost their lives there and their families, it was horrible.

I'M 26!!!!!!!!!

OK so I changed my background again, just because this one feels more like SPRING, and it’s my first day of being 26! My birthday was pretty cool yesterday! Started with coffee and a present on the mattress (would have said “in bed”, but we’re still sleeping in the study on 2 little mattresses while we wait for our ceiling to be fixed.) Work was OK, not hectically busy and crazy, so that was good. The plans for after work was that Chris and I go to my favourite restaurant THE MEAT COMPANY for supper, but when we got there Chris had organized a surprise, and a few of our close friends were there! So it was like a little party, SO NICE!!!! Had arguably the best ribs I’ve EVER had, which was a bonus :-)

This weekend I’ll be doing more celebrating, and one of my bestest and longest friends Louzanne will be coming up as well! Also going to JOBURG DAY, which I’ve never been to, but is an annual event and very popular. It’s basically an outside music concert lasting the whole day, so you take picnic stuff etc and chill out on the grass and listen to live bands. We bought a dining room table, which should be delivered on Friday, so then we can start entertaining properly! SO EXCITING!!!!!

Enjoy the rest of the week… almost weekend!

last day tomorrow of being 25!

My good friend Bree in Canada just turned 25 and now it's my second last day of being 25... must say it was without a doubt the best year of my life so far. I think all my lung functions were over 100%, got engaged, got married, bought a house, bought furniture, moved in with Chris. Just a grweat year in all aspects. Except for all the friends lost. Was just saying to Chris today I miss Landi. A lot reminds me of her.

Had a good day today, not so much yesterday. I manned a stall for the organ donor foundation at a church ladies conference from 9h00 - 15h00 yesterday, and it was such a waste of time. They just weren't interested, and only 4 people signed the register... in 6 hours. My weekend time off is so precious and to have wasted it in this way just upset me... and people's ignorance and stupidity. At least today was great, it was 30 degrees C, and we did some more shopping for the house (last weekend put us a bit behind with the geyser stuff. (ceiling in bedroom still not fixed, HOPEFULLY this week, everything is happening so slowly). Had a friend over for coffee and just chilled.

Wishing this week away (well the work bits, not the evenings), planning some cool stuff for next weekend! Have a good week!

2 years 7 month today!!!!!!

And married for 15 days today :-) Wow, been a while since I wrote something. Firstly, wedding was AWESOME. It truly was the best afternoon/evening of my life (morning was a but crazy, just running around!!!!) The weather was perfect, I felt like a princes, it was awesome having friends and fam from so far away there... and everyone ENJOYED it!!! Most people stayed right to the end when the music stopped, and the dance floor was always busy, and the food was WONDERFUL and and and... I really COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER WEDDING DAY.

The honeymoon was also GREAT, just too short :-( The first night we slept in the hotel, they gave us VERY nice room, and had lovely biffet breakfast the next morning overlooking the ocean! Then we went to buy some snacks, and off to storms river! It was quite cold there, as we hit a cold front, and rained almost the whole time, but we didn't really care, it just made it more cosy :-) Spent 2 nights there before we went on to Knysna, we we stayed in amazing accommodation and the weather was perfect! Will be posting some honeymoon pics soon... After another 2 nights and awesome days there, we drive back to be where I spent the last night ever in the house I grew up in, which was quite sad. Then we returned to JHB in a VERY PACKED CAR!!!! Arrived back at 17h00 last Friday and ever since it's been back to the rat race.... :-(

Setting up house has been so much fun... except that on Friday afternoon our Geyser's pressure value basically exploded leaving us without a ceiling in our bedroom and the whole room under water... and with brand new bedding soaked and dirty as hell from crap that was in the roof... new books that I got soaked, some clothes soaked and dirty... so this weekend's almost entirely consisted of doing laundry, mopping up water, vacuuming up water, cleaning, washing dirt of the wall and cupboards in our room... not much fun... at least we also managed to play squash twice, go see the New Zealand VS SA legendary rugby game at Soccer City (where the Soccer World Cup Final was played), which was very cool, and have supper with friends.

Last week @ work was really stressful and busy, trying to catch up etc. At least I managed to get a TV slot in :-) Because August is organ donor month here in SA, they asked me to be part of an interview for a few minutes in Wednesday morning, which was very cool.

Off to bed now, not looking forward to work tomorrow, and hopefully next weekend we can sleep in our own bed again (right now we're sleeping on 2 little single bed mattresses in our study...) Have a good week~!
